Original Recipe Yield: 6 servings


  • 1/2 medium celery root, size, cut into small cubes
  • 2 parsley root, sliced into rings
  • 2 carrots, sliced into rings
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 slices of chicken, cut into cubes (or the meat by your choice)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste, thick
  • 300-400 ml chicken stock / broth
  • 1 tbsp fine flour
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 10 potatoes
  • 200 g sheep cheese, (Eastern European bryndza)

Fry celery, parsley, carrots on the oil, then add garlic with onion.


Add meat, fry, then pour in broth, cover and simmer, stir occasionally.


Add the tomato paste and spices into semi-soft vegetables and meat, continue cooking until soft.


Sprinkle with flour, stir and cook for a few minutes, vegetables with meat should be in thicker sauce.


Divide the mixture into 2 smaller roasting trays and into 1 large, or by choice.


Layer mashed potatoes on the top, before they were pureed and mixed with a half of sheep cheese, mixture should represent two thirds of potatoes to one third of vegetables.


Sprinkle the top with lumps of sheep cheese.


Place in a preheated oven at 200 C (392 F) and bake until golden.
